The short version

Squishpets doesn’t collect, sell or share information about you or the pages you visit. Your pet’s levels and settings live in your own browser.

What the extension does on a page

When you bring your pet to a page, by clicking the Squishpets icon, pressing Alt+Shift+P or turning on “Follow me to every page”, the extension looks at the layout of that page: where headings, pictures, videos, buttons, text boxes and ads sit, and whether you’re scrolling, typing or selecting text, so the pet can walk on the page and react to it. This happens entirely inside your browser. Nothing from the page is stored or sent anywhere.

When the pet eats an ad, the extension hides that ad on your screen until you send the pet home. It doesn’t block ads from loading and doesn’t change anything on the website’s servers.

What is stored, and where

Your settings (which pet, size, sound, motion, accessory), each pet’s experience points and a daily record of what your pet did (for example, how many ads it ate) are saved with Chrome’s extension storage on your device. Uninstalling the extension deletes them.

Adopting paid pets

Paid pets are bought through Stripe’s checkout page. Stripe handles your payment details; Squishpets never sees your card. To restore pets you’ve adopted, the extension sends the email address you enter to our server, which asks Stripe whether that email has paid. The email is saved in your browser so you don’t have to type it again. We don’t use it for marketing.

This website

The extension never collects analytics. This website, squishpets.com, uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read, so we know what to improve. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you view on this site. It does not see anything you do inside the extension. You can block it with any ad blocker or with Google's opt-out add-on.

Permissions

activeTab and scripting let the pet appear on the tab you choose when you click the icon or use the shortcut. storage saves your settings and progress. Access to all websites is optional and only requested if you turn on “Follow me to every page”; you can turn it off in the popup or at chrome://extensions at any time.

Children

Squishpets collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
